One day, a young sapling asked why he was not hurrying to reach the clouds. Arbo smiled and pointed to the four roots that supported him. “First I learn to stand firmly here. Then I can grow.” He stayed beside the sapling through the windy days, until it found the courage to unfold its leaves.
From then on, travelers would stop to share a memory with him. Arbo listened patiently and kept their stories within his rings, so no one would forget the places and people who had helped them grow.
