The Story
At the end of a little street with glowing windows, Tila always kept a spare seat at her table. The small cream teapot had a special habit: whenever someone said they had no time to stop, she would pull up a chair and ask about their day.
One rainy evening, two friends arrived at her door after an argument. Each had prepared a speech, determined to prove they had been right. Tila placed two imaginary cups between them and listened. At first they spoke quickly. Then, between pauses and the sound of rain, one shared what had hurt, and the other understood something they had not heard before.
By the time they left, the rain had stopped. One friend asked Tila what tea she had served to make them feel so much lighter.
“You brought everything you needed,” she replied. “I simply saved you a little time for each other.”
Ever since, travellers, old friends and neighbours who barely know one another have gathered at Tila's table. And the spare seat is always there, waiting for the next story that needs to be heard.
